KinetiX

Welcome! Please introduce your band

We are from Offaly, Ireland

We have 3 members, we are all brothers

Our style is pop / Electro pop, although we infuse different elements into our music. There are traces, of trap, folk and EDM in some of our songs.

Tell us about your line-up

Arthur Stones - Drums

I am 28, I started playing music at 13, primarily playing classical music, and traditional Irish music. I played with an Irish music group called Ruaile Buaile. I then started making EDM at home, and then we formed as KinetiX.

Theodore Stones - Vocals

22, studied music at the University of Limerick for 5 years. I first sang pop and folk covers, and was part of a band called Saints & Co. I began writing original music 4 years ago.

Ademar Stones - Keys/synths and guitar

I am 16, I attend St Marys Secondary school

I began playing music very young, I focused on traditional music for 10 years, where I competed in all-Ireland competitions on the button accordion, fiddle, banjo and piano. I have 37 all-Ireland medals from those. I started writing original melodies 4 years ago.

How did the band meet?

We are all brothers, and have always played together since we were kids. First it was traditional music, and now it's pop music. We decided to pursue it seriously when we started to see the potential in the music we were making. We all live together and have a studio at home, so it is easy to get together and write, produce and record music.

What's the story behind your band name?

I am not too sure, but I think our mother thought up the name. I honestly can't remember.

Tell us about your influences!

We all have slightly different tastes, but I would say Dermot Kennedy, aviici, The Chainsmokers, Geordie Kieffer, Tame Impala, The Weeknd, The Beatles, Queen, and many more.

Could you describe your approach to songwriting?

Ademar writes the music, Theodore writes the lyrics, and when the song is almost complete, we take it to the studio, where Arthur works on making beats, bass lines, and other background music for the song. It works for us.

Describe your band's first big break

We are relatively new to the scene, we got some airplay on iRadio, 2fm, spin 1038 and other stations like that, but at the moment we are working up to our break! We aim to be headlining EP by 2023, and Glastonbury by 2028.

Tell us about some of your most memorable gigs - both good and bad!

We've played at several festivals throughout Ireland. I suppose we most enjoyed playing at the Edenderry festival, as it was a home town gig.

What advice do you have to those who want to start a band?

Best bits are the creative process writing, producing and recording the music, it is amazing when all that comes together as a good record. Doing gigs is amazing too.

There are no real worst bits, we enjoy it all.

What are some of the challenges you face being in a band?

No major challenges, we probably fight a bit more than most bands because we are all brothers, but we always get over it and return to the music.

What does it take to be successful as a band?

10% talent, 90% work. You have to spend a good portion of your time writing, recording, producing, gigging, promoting, etc for your music to be found.

How important is music theory?

I don't see it as hugely important, but it definitely serves a purpose, especially in the studio

Tell us about the releases you've put out to date

We are 8 singles in at the moment, with another single out next week. They all went very well and have received great reviews from listeners.

What has been your band's biggest achievement?

Reaching 100k views on YouTube.

How do you view the current state of the music industry?

It's good, those who can keep up with the technology end of things probably have an advantage, but it has to evolve with the times.

What are you working on right now?

We are constantly working on bringing out new singles.

What is your focus for the year ahead?

We aim to have 100k followers on socials.

Thank you so much for dropping by the WeJam studio! Where can we follow your progress?
